The Best Spicy Margarita

Mica’s Mean Margs
Serves 2

This spicy margarita recipe was a complete accident, born from improvising with a limited bar cart. The recipe ended up seriously rocking, much to everyone’s surprise. My partner, Moe, and siblings now call these “Mica’s Mean Margs.” Note - Moe usually dislikes elderflower liqueur but agrees that it’s completely subtle in this drink and adds a delicious je ne sais quoi!

Ingredients

1 jalepeño coin (slice), 1/2 in thick
2 limes, or 3 if very small
3 oz good tequila blanco
1.5 oz St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur
honey or agave syrup
ice
Tajín seasoning or salt

Instructions

1. Add the jalapeño coins to a shaker and muddle.
2. Squeeze both limes into the shaker. Add tequila, St. Germain, and a dash of honey or syrup (approx 1/2 oz), plus ice, and shake until chilled.
3. Rub the rim of a rocks glass with a lime wedge and dip the rim in a plate of Tajín seasoning or salt. Fill glasses with ice.
4. Strain the shaker evenly into each glass.

NOTE - You can simply double the ingredients to make a larger batch. The proportions are always 1 lime, 1.5 oz tequila, and 3/4 oz elderflower liqueur per serving.
